World Water Day: Mbalmayo

Planet

As part of World Water Day celebrated on March 22 under the theme "Water, a source of equality", JESUIS Association and REIMAC brought together representatives of civil society, women, youth and local actors in Mbalmayo to examine the challenges related to access to drinking water and the sustainable management of water resources.

Through a Knowledge Café structured around several themes, participants analyzed the realities faced by populations, including difficulties in water supply, the sometimes insufficient quality of the resource, the remoteness of access points and the resulting social consequences, particularly for women and girls.

The work identified several avenues for improvement adapted to the local context, including the development of new water points, the maintenance of existing infrastructure, better involvement of populations in water resource management, and a strengthening of collaboration between local authorities and communities.

The commemoration concluded with an awareness march linking the city center to the Nyong River, marking the collective commitment of the participants to more equitable access to drinking water and responsible management of this essential resource.
