On March 21, on the occasion of the International Day of Forests celebrated under the theme "Forests and economies", JESUIS Association, in partnership with REIMAC, organised a series of activities at the National School of Water and Forests (ENEF) of Mbalmayo in order to raise awareness among future professionals in the forestry sector about the challenges of sustainable management of natural resources.
This initiative highlighted the role of forests as a driver of economic development, while also showcasing the opportunities offered by the carbon market to reconcile ecosystem conservation with value creation. Participants benefited from technical presentations on how carbon markets operate and on the various stages involved in designing and implementing carbon projects.
Beyond the technical aspects, the day also highlighted the commitment of young people through cultural activities dedicated to environmental protection. It concluded with a reforestation project during which fifteen seedlings of local species, including owengué and assamela, were planted within the ENEF (National School of Forests and Environment). This symbolic action reflected the participants' desire to contribute concretely to the restoration of forest ecosystems and the preservation of Cameroon's natural heritage.
