Project & Operations Assistant

Where: Remote (100% Home-based)

Duration: 3 months

Start date: October 2025

Reports to: Project Coordinator and Grant Writer

Language required : French and English (minimum B1 – Intermediate level)

1. Background

JESUIS (Joints Efforts to Scale Up ImpactS) Association is a recently founded non-profit association based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Its mission is to promote sustainable development by working collaboratively with partner members to design innovative and transformative programs that amplify collective impact and foster more resilient communities. Beyond simply supporting communities, JESUIS focuses on co-creating tailored solutions that directly address the specific challenges they face. Through these efforts, the association strives to drive long-lasting, inclusive change. Through these actions, JESUIS engages in various areas, including the empowerment of women and minorities, the protection and education of children, humanitarian actions, nature, climate, energy and waste, neglected tropical diseases, and third-party services. As part of our ongoing efforts to expand our reach and maximize our impact, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated volunteer who is willing to dedicate their time and skills to contribute to the accomplishment of the JESUIS association’s missions.  

As a Volunteer Assistant, you will support the Project Coordinator and Grant Writer in drafting and submitting funding proposals. Your role will also involve contributing to project design, identifying funding opportunities, supporting fundraising efforts, and assisting with the implementation of humanitarian and community-based initiatives. Additionally, you will be encouraged to bring innovative ideas and develop communication materials for both the website and social media platforms to enhance the association’s visibility and engagement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Support to grant seeking and proposal development

  • Research and identify relevant funding opportunities.
  • Review eligibility criteria and ensure alignment with the association’s mission.
  • Assist in drafting and submitting grant proposals and related documentation.
  • Support budgeting and reporting processes
  • Track application progress and integrate feedback to improve future submissions.

2. Project Design and Writing

  • Contribute to project conceptualization and data collection.
  • Draft clear, structured proposals in collaboration with program teams.
  • Assist in aligning project narratives with donor requirements and organizational goals.
  • Review and proofread proposals for clarity and accuracy.
  • Ensure project proposal are submitted and apply on time

3. Support to Project Implementation and Operations

  • Assist in monitoring project activities and preparing progress reports.
  • Support the organization of events, workshops, and field visits.
  • Help maintain communication with stakeholders and partners.
  • Prepare meeting materials and draft minutes of meetings, follow up on action points.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for project activities.
  • Support risk assessment and quality control measures.
  • Foster team collaboration and contribute to process improvement.

4.. Communications and Visibility Support

  • Assist with updating the association’s website to reflect ongoing projects and opportunities.
  • Draft blog posts, news updates, and success stories to showcase impact.
  • Create and schedule content for social media platforms.
  • Develop communication materials (e.g. flyers, visuals) to enhance public engagement.                                                           

4. Duration and location of the mission

The duration of this assignment is 03 months, which could be extended according to performance and existing projects.

5. Working Arrangements: 

  • The volunteer will work from home;  
  • The volunteer will report to, and be directly supervised by the Founder of the Association
  • The volunteer will be given access to relevant information necessary for the execution of the tasks under this assignment; 
  • The volunteer will work remotely and will be responsible for providing her/his own work station (i.e. laptop, internet, phone, scanner/printer, etc.) and must have access to reliable internet connection;  
  • The volunteer is expected to demonstrate reasonable flexibility and manage their time independently, while committing to a minimum of 6 working hours per day.

6. Requirements

Eligibility 

This position is intended for a young professional at the early stage of their career. Applicants must be aged 28 or under at the time of application. Skills and Experience 

Education : A minimum Bachelor degree in the field of management or business administration, Sustainable development, Environment, Natural resources management, sociology,  political sciences, economy or any other relevant academic discipline 

Professional Experience: 

  • A minimum of one year of experience in project writing and grant seeking is preferred. However, one year of other relevant professional experience will also be considered
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Availability, flexibility, motivation, and a proactive, self-starting attitude.
  • Willingness to work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining regular communication with the team.
  • Familiarity with non-profit or community-based work is an asset.
  • Experience using digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Canva, Trello, Excel, or WordPress) is considered an advantage.

Nationality

  • Be of Cameroonian nationality

Language

  • Fluency in spoken and written French is required
  • Command of English will be a strong asset ( Intermediary level at least)

7. Competencies 

  • Strong ability  to search for Grants, funding opportunities, identify eligibility criteria, analyse information and the relevance to the organisation with minimum of supervision
  • Strong ability to write project proposal, and submit applications online
  • Strong skills for project implementation and innovation
  • Strong ability to coordinate well with diverse individuals and teams and to negotiate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve results. 
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, ethnicity, and age sensitivity and adaptability. – Treats all people correctly.
  • Openness to change and ability to receive/integrate feedback. – Ability to work under pressure and stressful situations.

8. Compensation

As part of our commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment, the position of Volunteer – Project Assistant is offered strictly on a non-remunerated basis. While this role does not include any form of salary or financial compensation, we recognize the importance of providing minimal support to facilitate effective engagement. Therefore, the Association will cover only the cost of internet connectivity required to carry out assigned tasks, within a reasonable limit defined by the organization. This arrangement enables us to involve motivated individuals who share our vision for impactful project development and implementation, while promoting a volunteer spirit rooted in shared values and commitment. We value the contribution of our volunteers and are dedicated to creating an environment that supports their learning and growth. 

A certificate of completion will be provided at the end of the volunteer assignment, acknowledging the contributions made and the experience gained during the engagement.
